This topic addresses the potential liability for drinking water suppliers from large municipal systems to small community water systems, businesses, apartment complexes, and manufacturers arising from lead, chemicals of emerging concern such as PFOs, and trace levels of pharmaceuticals.  When the public expects pure and clean drinking water, but receives water tainted by such substances, how exposed are the providers to environmental citizen suits, medical monitoring claims, cancer cluster investigations, massive infrastructure upgrades, and personal injury allegations?  For manufacturers and commercial operations meeting specific quality requirements, what product liability exposure could result?  What forms of coverages may apply, and what limitations are typically contained in such policies?  As with asbestos, will historic and legacy policies be triggered, and if so, under what criteria?
